隔热型材的生产方式主要有两种，一种是采用隔热条材料与铝型材，通过机械开齿、穿条、滚压等工序形成“隔热桥”，称为隔热型材“穿条式”;另一种是把隔热材料浇注入铝合金型材的隔热腔体内，经过固化，去除断桥金属等工序形成“隔热桥”，称为“浇注式”隔热型材。

隔热型材的内外两面，可以是不同断面的型材，也可以是不同表面处理方式的不同颜色型材。但受地域，气候的影响，避免因隔热材料和铝型材的线膨胀系数的差距很大，在热胀冷缩时二者之间产生较大应力和间隙;同时隔热材料和铝型材组合成一体，在门窗和幕墙结构中，同样和铝材一样受力。因此，要求隔热材料还必须有与铝合金型材相接近的抗拉强度、抗弯强度，膨胀系数和弹性模量，否则就会使隔热桥遭到断开和破坏。因此，隔热材料的选用是非常重要的。
The inside and outside sides of the heat-insulating profiles can be profiles with different sections, or profiles with different colors with different surface treatments. However, due to the influence of region and climate, the large difference of linear expansion coefficient between thermal insulation materials and aluminum profiles should be avoided, and large stress and gap should be created between thermal expansion and cold shrinkage. Therefore, it is required that the thermal insulation materials also have the tensile strength, bending strength, expansion coefficient and elastic modulus similar to the aluminum alloy profiles, otherwise the thermal insulation bridge will be broken and destroyed. Therefore, the selection of heat insulation materials is very important.
